About Us

When I think back to how Roots Huts and Tubs came about it is hard to pin point the exact moment. The pond was put in during the summer of 2015, when I say ‘put in’ it had already existed, just a smaller version that had become overgrown and stagnant over the years, a marshy, unusable corner of a field.
2016 saw it bloom and really become established as wild flowers began to poke through and the wildlife moved in. It was one spring afternoon, when showing a friend around the pond that she said to me ‘I bet you love escaping down here, away from it all don’t you?”…. but the thing was, we never actually got chance, or rather we never made the time. So, a few days later on a beautiful sunny day, we did exactly that, and lay in the grass staring up at the sky, listening to the birds and watching the frogs and dragonflies going about their day. For a few hours we forgot about what we should be doing, forgot about work and our daily pressures and just enjoyed the moment… bliss.

I think this was probably when the idea started to develop, we realised what a special place it was and how we would like to share it in a unique way… so others could visit and getaway from the day to day hustle and bustle of this fast paced life we live…. even if only for a few days.

We felt Shepherd huts were the perfect accommodation choice, we wanted comfort and warmth but didn’t want to lose that feeling of camping and having to deal with the elements. These were made locally by Mike and Byron of Pumphrey and Weston, a fairly new venture for them at the time and our huts were, I believe, number 3 & 4 of their production… and the hot tubs, well we all deserve a spot of luxury and what better way to watch the stars at night.

We hope you enjoy looking around our website and would love to welcome you for some rest and relaxation in the Cornish countryside.
